When people ask me which place I belong to, I am often confused as to how to respond to that question. For you see, I have lived in a number of places all across India and according to me where my ancestors lived can and will not define me.
So, although according to my origins, I would be considered a Kumaoni from the Kumaon hills in Uttarakhand, my heart belongs to this world, to nature! I love travelling and exploring new places. However because of want of money and company, I have had to let go of my travel plans earlier but I plan to change that this year (as on 2015).
Now what you’ll find below is a list of most of my favourite things in no particular order to help you get to know me better 🙂 So sit tight and let the journey begin –
Photography is something I have always been extremely fond of. I remember looking forward to taking pictures using my dad’s digital camera as a kid. During my stint as a social media marketer at a digital agency called SMG Convonix for a year (in 2012), I happened to work for a wedding print services brand which had collaborations with a number of wedding photographers. My work at the agency included creating content related to wedding photography and photography tips etc. in general. I often followed, came across and contacted a number of photographers too along the way. All this in some way, I think, intensified my dream to be a good photographer to quite an extent. In 2014, I finally managed to buy a DSLR – Canon 600D after saving money and borrowing some from my sister. For a year before that, I used to borrow my sister’s Canon 550D from time to time and click photos whenever she would let me (I guess the photography bug runs in the family 😉 ).
Last year in 2014, when I got into MICA and ended up being a part of the PR and media committee there called ‘Team Interface’, I had to take a lot of pictures of the college and its various events and earned the reputation of a photographer among the students and the faculty. This made me feel proud but I know there’s still a long way to go. I am not anywhere close to being perfect yet but I’m trying.

I have been a writer for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I used to write a lot of poems. However, over time that changed, my writing poetry became a few and far between occasion and I started penning down my thoughts in the form of articles instead.
I started a blog years ago in Blogspot which I deleted and recreated a couple of times (I was trying to start Google Adsense in it, which would give me issues I couldn’t understand so to resolve them, I tried recreating my blog. I was never successful in this endeavor of mine though). I started blogging in Wordpress in 2013 and have continued doing so ever since.
My first blog on WordPress was where I wrote my thoughts related to marketing and ads I found interesting. I started it on 7th August, 2013 at mysocialiety.wordpress.com. However, I have been inactive there since quite sometime now and hope to resume writing there soon.
My second blog, which happens to be this was started on 10th October, 2013 and I have enjoyed the journey of connecting with so many people via it so far. Since, it’s more generic, it is easier for me to write whatever I want to share here and hence, this blog is more regularly updated 🙂

An interesting tale in our family claims that ancestors from my mother’s side used to be cooks in the royal kitchen and considering the amazing food that my mother and her side of the family prepare time and again, over the years I have never found any reason to believe otherwise.
Naturally, I love cooking and baking too. My adventures at the kitchen began with me helping Mum out and then went on to my experimenting and trying out interesting dishes and recipes created by me.
I love creating and trying out recipes that are unique which is why I generally don’t like preparing the usual Dal, Roti, Sabzi (Curry, Chapatis and Vegetables). I also started creating and experimenting with chocolate a few years back and listed my chocolates online at a portal that allowed people to sell handmade items. That however did not really work plus the portal shut down a few months later.
Travelling is something I truly love and although I suffer from motion sickness (that gets aggravated in hilly roads and air conditioned vehicles 😦 ) that has never stopped me from going on trips, ever.
I think I grew to love travelling as my dad is in a transferable job and we would move around the country and shift places often. My father loves driving so he would often take us on road trips to places around where we were stationed at the time. I especially remember this road trip we’d taken to Bhutan from Assam when I was a kid very fondly.
Over the years, I have travelled to places in Bhutan, Assam, West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Delhi, Goa, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Although this seems like a lot of travelling but since I’ve only gone to a few places in almost all of these states and India is a vast country, a lot of ground needs to be covered and soon.
I used to read a lot as a kid, probably taking inspiration from my sister. This habit however has slowly died down and my reading books has become rather rare.
However, I might review and write about books here time and again – Books that really catch my fancy and leave a lasting impact.
I love playing sports. I have been playing basketball since my school days and absolutely love the game.
I used to be a cricket lover as a kid and would watch not miss any cricket matches that Team India would play (even if my board exams were close by :P). That however changed once I shifted to a hostel and no longer had access to Television.
I have always enjoyed playing cricket too and fondly remember how I used to beg my cousin and sister to play the game with me. I used to not interact with guys much when I was little and unfortunately all my girl friends that stayed near my house weren’t exactly the kind who would play sports with me. This is why I never got to indulge in this sport during my childhood and I remember longing for a brother who I could have played the game with when I was little.
Earlier, I remember playing Football with a cricket ball when I was in school with one of my friends. Once I came into MICA however, that changed and I got to play football in the way it is meant to be played 😀
I learnt Tennis when I was in school, when I used to play it regularly I was pretty good at it. However, over the years I lost touch with the sport and my game deteriorated. I plan to work on this at MICA, this year.
I have a similar story when it comes to Swimming – Learnt it in school, lost touch and never really got a chance to be good at it as I learnt it only for a month or so.
Apart from all these, I like playing badminton and table tennis too. I think indulging in sports is an amazing way to stay fit yet have fun at the same time. It’s like have your cake and eat it too 😉
Music and Dance
I absolutely love music. Listening to it as well as creating it 🙂 I have learnt 3 years of Hindustani classic singing and a year or so of Harmonium. I love singing along when I hear songs that I like. However, since I have performance fright, you would rarely see me perform. Infact if you have, you should consider yourself very lucky 😛
I listen to a variety of artists (mostly English). Some of the ones I love are Adele, Maroon 5, Train, Pink, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake.
My dream is to learn how to play the piano, guitar and violin perfectly some day.
Nowadays, I’m trying to learn the guitar on my own. Hopefully, I’ll be successful in doing so 😀
I also love dancing – the mad and completely crazy kind 😀 The kind I do in my room alone in front of the mirror with loud music playing and the lights out! Other than this, I would actually really love learning Salsa properly some day.
Well, so that’s enough of me 🙂 I hope you enjoy reading my blog! ❤
